Hiit Mama workouts are timed so time yourself and go as FAST AS YOU CAN!! That is how you get the cardio in. If you are a new Hiit Mama, just start with the workout of the day (WOD)...no need to go back to the first post because we will eventually repeat all those workouts. Make sure and post your time in the comment section so you can track your progress! Also, there are video demos of each exercise we do down the right side bar.

suggested equipment

10 and 20 lb dumbbells
jump rope
pull-up bar
10 lb weight ball
18" box
20 lb kettlebell
timer

Hi
I just saw this pinned on pinterest and I am SO interested in this, I dont know much about crossfit but I have a home gym and according to this list all I need is a ball and jump rope. BUT would it be possible for you to email me and give me details on how to get my name on the list and just about crossfit in general? is there somewhere I can learn what each exercise is? I really want to do this and Im glad I saw this before the 90 day challenge starts tomorrow!
Any info to help me get started tomorrow would be GREAT!
Thanks

What do you use for power clean and workouts needing a long bar and weights?

Jenni said...

Mary- I use dumbbells for all of my lifting. If you replicate that same movement and form, it is not a problem to use dumbbells in a low weight.

Just found this blog.... I'm a beginner and live in an area where the closest gym is 45 mins away. Been looking for cross fit training at home. Any advice suggestions on the best way to get started?

Jenni said...

Hi Stephanie- It sounds like Crossfit Mamas was made for you! The best way to get started is to just jump in and do the WOD. There are video tutorials down the right side bar of all the exercises we do. Time yourself and watch as your times improve in a short amount of time. :)

How can I do the deadlift if I don't have the long bar?

I really want to try this, as I love working out at home and am looking for something new, but not as time consuming as Beachbody and other options. I don't have a treadmill and live in a state that's often snowy. Do I need to invest in a treadmill or can I replace the runs with another type of stationary cardio?

Jenni said...

Hi Nikki! Welcome! I don't think you NEED a treadmill. I have posted a list of subs for running for all my snowy state Mamas on our Facebook page. You might have to scroll down a ways but it is there. You can do jump rope, jumping jacks, run stairs, do burpess, etc. when the weather doesn't permit running. The list on our facebook page lists how many to do of each per 100 meter run.

Do you a suggestion for an everyday of the 18 inch box? Just found you today and thinking that this is what I'm looking for but wanting to get set up in a hurry and not seeing boxes at places like Target. Thanks..oh and I need to hunt down these shakes. Btw, Happy tax day!

Cassie- The only option I know of right now is to build one but one of the Mamas said that she is using an irrigation valve box from Lowe's: http://m.lowes.com/product?langId=-1&storeId=10702&catalogId=10051&productId=3133533&store=0008&view=detail

What a great blog. I am a new mother that needs to get back in shape. I just finished turning an old bedroom into a home gym I just need some guidance on what to do. This would be perfect. Going back to the first post, thanks so much for sharing!

Jenni said...

You're welcome! But don't go back to the first post!! We will repeat all those workouts about once or twice a year. Just do the workout of the day.

We only have a rower right now so I rowed 500m and used a 26lb kettlebell.

I also did 5x5 back squats of 113lb before the wod.
I'm a mother of a two yo, a teacher, and the wife of a crossfit fanatic. We have our own gym complete with just about everything in our basement. But to find time to workout for myself while watching the little one is hard, much less programming for myself.
I am so excited to start adding your wods to my day!

I want to start right away, but don't have a pull up bar yet. Is there an alternate excersice in the meantime tbar works just as well?

Jenni said...

You can get a removable pull-up bar at Target for $20. Until then you can do reverse pull-ups under a table, etc.
